E-Bike

.
  • E-bike was created in 2012. Participating students have three months to work on their bikes after school. In groups of 3-5, they build their bicycle and create a presentation to later show the panel of judges. The bikes are tested in different categories, speed, brakes and weight. Bikes are also judged by appearance and cost. E-bike has sponsors that fund the cost of the materials; this year E-bike was sponsored by Chevron and Kaiser. E-Bikes' 5th annual race took place on the football field. Bikes raced around the track, one after another. Students rode their bikes around obstacles on the track. Mentors from all over the Bay Area, like engineering students from UC Berkeley and big company engineers, volunteered. Every participant receives a trophy at the end of the program.
