    Algebra 1A SL

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies one year of the math requirement for WCCUSD graduation.
    Description: Intended for students with limited Math and English proficiency. Algebra 1A/1B is a two year course which will cover all topics in a traditional one year Algebra 1 course. The slower pace will allow time for intervention as needed. Upon successfully completing Algebra 1B, the students will receive credit for Algebra 1. Algebra 1A cover solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities, reading and interpreting word problems, and understanding functional relationships using graphs, charts, and tables.

    Algebra 1B SL

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies one year of the math requirement for WCCUSD graduation.
    Description: Intended for students with limited Math and English proficiency. Algebra 1A/1B is a two year course which will cover all topics in a traditional one year course. Algebra 1B covers solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities, reading and interpreting word problems, solve quadratic equations, by factoring, by completing the square, and by the quadratic formula, understanding functional relationships using graphs and charts, and working with rational and irrational expressions to solve simple rational and radical equations.

    Prerequisite: C or better grade in pre-algebra and teacher recommendation and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirement for one year.
    Description: Intended for students with limited Math and English proficiency. This is the first course in a series required by the UC/CSU admissions' system.

    American Government SL (P)

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirements.
    Description: The theory and structure of the American political and legal systems; including the study of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, the American political process, and state, country, local governments. Intended for non-English or limited English speakers.

    Description: The theory and structure of reciprocal economic systems as influenced by American domestic and foreign policy decisions as well as political, legal, and socioeconomic issues. Intended for non-English or limited English speakers.

    U.S. History SL (P)

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirement for one year.
    Description: Intended for students with a limited background in U.S. History and limited English proficiency. The course begins with early American History and is limited to the most important historical events and ideas. A greater emphasis is placed on the period of history since the Civil War.

    World History SL (P)

    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirement for one year.
    Description: Intended for students with a limited English proficiency. This class serves as an introduction to the social sciences with area studies of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa.

    Freshmen Foundations - Cultural Geography SL (P)

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirement for one year.
    Description: An in depth examination of the interchanges among members of various cultures who have settled in the Bay Area from early time to today. The course builds upon the identities of the students in the high schools and supports them in understanding self and others. The course builds upon the ideas and academic standards found in the History/Social Science State framework (9th grade electives section) as well as the California standards for Historical and Social Science Analysis Skills. Students will better understand the world's cultural geography through looking at major waves of immigration in the Bay Area.

    Health Science SL

    Prerequisite: Referral and LEP certification
    Graduation: Satisfies both WCCUSD and UC/CSU graduation requirement for one year.
    Description: Designed to increase awareness of the factors affecting the health of the individual. Students explore how everyday decisions affect personal mental and physical health. Topics include nutrition, exercise, stress, substance abuse, diseases, health services, human body systems, sexually transmitted diseases, and AIDS.
