Equity Statement
The West Contra Costa Unified School District Academic Committee understands and works from a position that zip codes should not dictate or predict student success in public school or experience in public school. We acknowledge the systemic racism that the education system was built from and we actively work to dismantle those barriers.

Mission Statement
West Contra Costa Unified School District provides a rigorous curriculum with high expectations and high support for all students to succeed by maintaining a positive learning environment that is welcoming and focused on the whole student. WCCUSD will thrive to be progressive global leaders in education, providing an inclusive and inspiring learning experience where all students graduate ready for success in college or career.

Academic Beliefs
- All kids can learn
- We plan, work, and implement policy and programs from an equity lens (cultural pedagogy is paramount. We know the kids we are to serve)
- We eliminate barriers to success
- We protect, encourage, motivate, and support educators and students

Goals
- All third grade students are reading at grade level
- Struggling second graders not reading at grade level are given an intense program throughout the summer of second grade to ensure they are at grade level starting third grade
- Fifth graders start 6th grade with a firm elementary school math foundation
- All middle schoolers leave middle school with a firm algebraic foundation
- All high schoolers have a post high school road map
- All SPED students receive the services required by law and more
- We strive to have high rate of reclassification for all ELL students
- Academic leveling-all district zip codes provide quality education
- Parent education programs are vast and establish parent confidence
- Provide strong CTE programs accessible to all students
- Provide academies at the secondary level to prepare students for college and/or career
- Create an African American and bilingual roadmap for success
