• The West Contra Costa Unified School District Redistricting Commission is an independent body tasked with analyzing the 2020 Census Data and reviewing and possibly revising the Trustee Area boundaries for the 2022 elections for the Board of Education. The commission, authorized by consists of seven members representing each of the five trustee areas and two members who are residents of Contra Costa County but live outside of the district boundaries. Commission members were selected by senior inactive US District Judge, . The commission was formed pursuant to the Stipulation and Judgment in the Ruiz-Lozito v. West Contra Costa Unified School District California Voting Rights Act lawsuit; the Stipulation and Judgment are available here.


    Commission Adopts Final Plan

    On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, the Commission adopted its Final Redistricting Plan. The Executive Report regarding the Final Redistricting Plan is available here (español). The shapefiles that correspond to the final map adopted by the Commission are available here.     Commission Adopts Recommended Plan

    On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the Commission adopted its Recommended Redistricting Plan (Español). The corresponding shapefiles are available here. Additional information about the Plan, as well as supporting data, can be found on the  of the Commission’s retained demographer, Dr. Loren Collingwood.  

    The Commission will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, to adopt the Final Redistricting Plan. The meeting will be held by Zoom, at the following link:  or (669) 900-6833, ID: 92663418445#.


    Commission Adopts Preliminary Plan, Seeks Further Public Input

    On December 14, 2021, the Commission adopted its Preliminary Plan for redistricting the Trustee Area boundaries to be used for the 2022–2030 elections.  A copy of the Preliminary Plan and the Commission’s report regarding that plan is available here (Español).  Additional information about the Preliminary Plan, as well as other alternatives considered by the Commission and supporting date, can be found on the  of the Commissioner’s expert demographer Dr. Loren Collingwood.  That website will be updated with the latest map information as it becomes available.

    In order to ensure that the redistricting plan adopted by the Commission provides the best possible opportunity for all residents to have their voices heard in Trustee elections, the Commission will be holding three public outreach meetings before adopting its Recommended Plan.  Those meetings will be held via Zoom on the following dates:

    Please welcome Diana Diaz-Noriega to the Redistricting Commission. Diana was selected by Judge Thelton Henderson to represent Trustee Area on the Commission. Diana is expected to attend her first meeting as the Trustee Area 3 Commissioner on July 27, 2021.
