Credit Policy

of assignments (tests, quizzes, projects, classwork, homework and other activities) and participation.

Credit
- Full credit is given for accurately completed work turned in (or performed) on time.
- No credit (0 points) for late or copied work.
- Requested corrections are due no later than the following day for full credit.
- Unexcused absences and tardiness will result in the loss of credit for missed assignments.
- Unpreparedness, tardiness, not bringing materials, not following procedures or directions, and behavioral and discipline issues will result in the loss of participation points and the credit for missed assignments
Absences and Tardiness
- Credit for delayed work and make-ups for tests and quizzes is granted only for excused absences or tardiness.
- Absences are cleared by the attendance office, not the teacher.
- It is the students’ responsibility to check due work and missed materials because of absences.
- Missed work for absences has to be turned in the next day after retuning to class, before an equal number of the days missed passes by and never later than the fourth day upon arrival; otherwise, the credit is lost (0 points). Check with the teacher for possible alternative arrangements.
- Following the school policy, every five tardies a referral will be sent to the student’s counselor.
- Independent Study Plans are due upon arrival.
Materials to Bring Daily
- You must bring daily your tablet (fully charged from home) textbook, workbook(s), binder, standard paper, pencils and blue/black pen. Other materials may be requested in advance.
◊Notes: ? ♦ Whiteout is not allowed in this class. Just cross out mistakes in pen with a single line in parentheses
and rewrite the full word next or aside.
? ♦ Workbooks have to be taped or for protection as the covers are too thin to last. Ducktaped all your
workboos and decorate them as you choose.
♦? Students will have to pay the school to restore anya lost or damage materials, including books and
workbooks.
Procedures
- You need a three-ring binder for the class. A multiple-subject binder with sections will be OK.
- All assignments, class notes and handouts for the last six (6) weeks must be kept orderly by date in the binder. This includes all returned work.
- Do your work in an easy-tear three-hole notebook kept only for this subjects. Detach the assignments when requested and transfer then into your binder when they are returned. Clean-cut all detached sheets.
- Hand-written assignments in paper must be done in standard three-hole ruled sheets, in blue or black non-fluorescent pen that does not bleed through. You are welcome to write on both sides of the sheets.
- Write your Name (Last, First), Period and Date in the front upper right corner of all sheets, worksheets and assigned pages of your workbook before starting your work, and in all the handouts that your are given .
- All assignments must be cross-referenced. To cross-reference an assignment, first write down the date it was assigned on the upper right of your sheet below your name and period; then, as a heading, on the left margin, write the source of the assignment (TB for textbook, WB for workbook, etc.) followed by the page number and the activity number in a circle. You can continue working on the same page on a different date, just write the new date double-spaced also on the right of the paper to get started.
- Assignments must be written on double space. Single-spaced paragraphs won’t be accepted.
- Never go beyond the assigned pages in your workbook.
- Never detach any pages from your workbook, just turn in the whole workbook to have it checked.
Rules
- Follow academic behavior. Work quietly at assigned seat or as directed. Raise a quiet hand if you need help. Do not leave your seat without permission.
- Eating, chewing and sleeping are not allowed in the classroom. Candy and gum are not allowed.
- The only drink allowed in class is water. Students must bring their own water in a leak-proof hard container to be kept closed and away when not drinking. Cups or soft plastic bottles are not allowed. No passes will be given to drink water or refill containers.
- Personal electronics must be turned off and kept away out of sight; otherwise they will be confiscated.
- Electronics cannot be charged in the classroom.
- Head coverings (caps, hats, hoods, etc.) are not allowed and must be kept away out of sight.
- Keep your belongings out of the way. Backpacks must be kept underneath one’s desk).
- Doing hair and make-up, mirrors and related materials are not allowed in the classroom.
- Perfume and smelly lotions or products are not to be used in the classroom.
- Students are allowed two (2) hall passes per quarter. Passes will be given only to a student at a time. No student will be allowed to leave if a previous student is still out with a pass.
- Students must use the restroom between classes. If a student requests more than the allowed passes, he or she will have to serve the equivalent time.
- Keep the classroom must clean and tidy. Students must clean after themselves and are responsible for keeping their area clean. Students will be requested to clean their area to be dismissed.
- The class is dismissed by the teacher, not the bell. Students are not to pack or leave their seats until dismissed.
Consequences
- District and school rules always apply.
- Not following directions or breaking the rules will result in detentions or/and referrals.
- Lunch detentions by teacher are to be served in my classroom starting ten minutes after the bell for lunch until the end of the period.
- Afterschool detention by teacher starts 5 minutes after dismissal and lasts for 15 minutes.
- Failure to serve detention on time will result in a referral to counselor.
