Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging drive the foundation of Madera Elementary’s core values. We believe that learning and growing toward one’s potential is a basic human right. Our school community is strengthened by the diversity of student, parent, and staff voices singing together, playing together, working together, and learning together. Madera's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee supports our school to foster compassion, engagement, and awareness of the varied cultures, ethnicities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, family compositions, abilities, learning differences, and socioeconomic backgrounds of our families and the broader community. for our email list to receive periodic email digests of DEI-related opportunities, resources, and workshops as well as volunteer opportunities and Madera DEI meetings!

Madera Welcoming Buddies Program
The Madera Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is exploring ways to welcome new families and help them transition to life at Madera. In 2020, we launched a voluntary program called “Welcoming Buddies” to pair incoming or newer Madera families with existing members of the Madera community for a welcoming phone call to answer questions, and possibly provide connections to other Madera families or resources in the community. How much time you spend participating is completely up to you and your buddy family!
To support our immigrant families who are new to Madera and/or are learning English, we encourage families to sign up who speak multiple languages and/or are interested in cross-cultural exchange. We would love to have you join us! If you are interested in participating either as an experienced Madera family, or as an incoming or newer family, fill out .
