• Becoming actively involved in education at the local level can help influence the direction and quality of learning for all students. Children are dependent on an involved and caring community to have a positive impact on their lives. Your involvement can make a world of difference in the life of a child.

The Board of Education adopted Board Policy 1240 Volunteer Assistance, to ensure our students have the right to learn in a safe environment and remain protected from any form of misconduct by adults on our schools’ campuses. The Board is cognizant of the critical role parents, guardians and community members play in the education of our students. Parents, guardians and community members are encouraged to share their special knowledge and abilities with our students. At the same time, schools must be able to operate with full confidence that our students are working with adults who are there to serve their needs. The new policy is a means to ensure student safety and not a deterrent for parent/guardian and community involvement in our schools.

Parent/Community Member Volunteer Process

  • Public Volunteer Process

    Dear WCCUSD Community,

We are lifting the pause on the use of the Verkada platform for volunteer clearance and returning to the new process that was initially shared with the community.

Volunteers can be cleared in two ways: Online or In-Person. Volunteer applicants can apply to become a volunteer at your school site.  You may also use the updated volunteer flye with the instructions below to access the application via phone by scanning the QR code.  Volunteers will need a state identification or consulate card to apply, and clearance can take up to a week after the application is received. School sites will receive a notification of who has been cleared by the Family & Community Engagement Office(FACE).  Volunteers will receive a name tag at the school site once the school site has confirmed clearance.

For those who prefer to apply in-person, please schedule a meeting with the Family and Community Engagement team. This will allow one week for processing. The FACE team will then contact you to arrange a suitable appointment date and time. Please note that volunteers should not visit the District office without a prior appointment.

Volunteers who were badged in previous school years will also need to complete applications in Verkada to be accepted into our new system.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process.

    In Community,

West Contra Consta Unified School District

WCCUSD Visitors and Volunteers Policy

  • Visitors will be required to use the check-in and check-out system at the schools each time they enter and leave campus. If visitors begin working in any unsupervised setting with students, the Level Two process must be completed immediately.
