Hello Mira Vista Community,

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you back to the new 2024-2025 school year!  My name is Mr. Whaling and I am honored to be the new principal of Mira Vista School.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and carry on its traditions that make this a great school.  

A bit about me and the experiences that I bring to Mira Vista.  I led Ellerhorst Elementary in Pinole as its Principal for the last six years and served as the Assistant Principal at Helms Middle School for the four years prior to that. Before moving into school administration, I taught math for eight years at Kennedy High School in Richmond.  Meanwhile, I am also a parent of two daughters in this district, so I bring to this job the perspective of a parent and know the importance of having a welcoming neighborhood school where all students are excited to attend every day.  I do not take that responsibility lightly.  

I want to thank Ms. Charlotte Betson, my former colleague at Kennedy High, for her commitment and effort at Mira Vista.  I wish her all the best in her next job.  

I am eager to meet the Mira Vista community, its dedicated teachers and staff, and look forward to a great school year together of learning and growing.  Though I officially start on August 1st, feel free to reach out to me with questions or if you would just like to introduce yourself.  My email is gwhaling@茄子视频.
