Hi my name is Andre Brunetti, and I have been working as an elementary school teacher in West Contra Costa School District since 1999. My tenure includes 14 years at Chavez elementary, a two year stint in Uruguay, and time at Harbor Way Academy, Fairmont and Washington Elementary. During that time, I had the pleasure of teaching every grade level except for kindergarten (although I have worked as an aide in kindergarten classrooms). Currently, I am a supervising teacher for grades two and three, and I am incredibly grateful to be here.

During “lockdown”, I saw many students make real progress in their learning. In addition, I felt that I made strong connections with them and their families over the course of the year due to having much more contact with them over Zoom. This is what initially drew me to apply for the Vista K12 Virtual Academy (VK12VA).  

I am now in my fourth year of teaching at VK12VA,  and I am so happy to be here! Over these last few years, I have watched students of all backgrounds make significant growth in their learning, and I have developed close bonds with them and their families. This has been truly rewarding. I especially enjoy teaching math and creating project based Social Studies lessons that are engaging and inclusive. I am always learning new things from my superstars’ (students) presentations.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, Pilates, hiking, cooking, reading, hanging out with my family, continuing to learn Spanish (and English…), and trying to play guitar and sing LOL.
