Ms. Erin Calentine
Hello! My name is Erin Calentine. I have been teaching high school for 18 years. My first 8 were at Kennedy, and the last 10 at Vista as a supervising teacher. This is my favorite school of all time. I love working in a school of choice, where student voice is the most important deciding factor in our plans. I love getting to craft individual plans *with* students to help them achieve their goals.
I help maintain several of the syllabi on campus, as well as trying to attend ALL the field trips, and running different clubs. This year I also have the pleasure of teaching our second year of Yearbook! I work in Room 9 with Ms. Hampton, my work spouse and invaluable partner in education. We are on campus Monday-Thursday 8:30-3:30.
I am a native of Southern California who graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz (Go Banana Slugs!). I studied Latin American and Latino studies and Linguistics. I love practicing my Spanish skills with our students and families (emphasis on practicing). I have proudly called Oakland home for almost 20 years now, and I love living in the Bay Area.
In my free time, I enjoy reading and playing a wide variety of board games. I take walks with my mom and her tiny dogs, and hang out with the neighborhood cat who has adopted me. I love camping and travel- my most recent Summer trip took me to the volcanic corridor of Oregon, and Crater Lake. I saw a marmot!
