In that time, various classes have focused on Landscaping & Grounds Keeping, Gardening, Media, Technology and Employability, Furniture Restoration, Pre-vocational Training. and Itinerant Instruction at various Community-Based Work Sites.
Published the AntHill Chronicle newsletter and The AntHill yearbook. Major advocate for family involvement at this crucial, final level of special education. Long-term student success is made more attainable with the ongoing support and positive reinforcement from families and caregivers.
Currently working with students assigned to Community-Based Work Sites. Previous Work Sites include Hilltop YMCA, Orchard Supply Hardware, Eco Village, WCCUSD Administration Building Mailroom AND Nutrition Center, Joann Fabrics, Pinole Senior Center, El Sobrante Cyclery, and Vista Hills Education Center.
Community-Based Instruction (CBI) focused upon travel training, exposure to multiple forms of art, demystifying and encouraging exposure to different types of food, access to service providers, and overall increased socialization among peers, as well as staff and administrators.
Is a firm believer that the quality of life for anyone is always enhanced when empowered with independence, self-determination, and inclusion.
